Our residents know what a little word of mouth can do to ease the mind. Hear a few words from those who have had the opportunity to experience John Knox Village firsthand.

I can think of nowhere else I’d rather live in my older but still vital years. The assurance of safety and security for the present and the future makes for a certain stress-free lifestyle. There’s the fabulous Aquatic and Fitness Centers for fun exercise. We have several differently themed restaurants to satisfy our hunger. Almost every activity possible is available. And the entertainment provided in the awesome Cultural Arts Center and Town Center Auditorium is first class! And the friendships found here, of both fellow residents and staff, are of utmost importance. I absolutely love JKV!!

We are reminded every day of how much we enjoy living at JKV, when we look at the view from our windows. There are beautiful trees, plants and flowers and something is always in bloom. It is great to have easy access to the dining venues, fitness studio and resort style aquatic center.

The thing I like most about JKV is the sense of relief that comes with a decision to settle in a comfortable living situation that has basically removed the responsibilities of home ownership. All the uncertainty about bills and repairs is gone. The anxiety that comes with that responsibility is just gone. No more worries.
The amenities that I enjoy the most include the daily schedule of fitness classes and water aerobics led by qualified instructors, the opportunity to attend multiple dining venues, the lovely well-maintained grounds, the choice to be a private or a social individual every day, and neighbors who are caring and thoughtful.

I have lived at JKV now for about a year and a half. As a single person with no immediately obvious caregiver as I age, I can’t tell you what a relief it is to be in a place where I know who will take care of me should I need it, and where I got to make the decisions about it myself in advance. It is difficult to be bored or lonely here, unless you choose to be. There are so many activities to choose from, both internal here at John Knox and also with the local community. I can honestly say that I have met more people, and been more social, since I moved into JKV than I have been in years. Another thing that impresses me is the caring on the part of other residents…when someone needs something, when someone is ill, my experience is we pitch in to help, a perfect example of the “golden rule”. When I made the decision to move to JKV, I was very nervous and worried if I had done the right thing. I have not regretted that decision for a moment.

I’ve told friends from other places that living at John Knox is like being on a cruise ship that isn’t going anywhere: luxurious pools, fine dining in several restaurants, excellent fitness facilities, daily presentations and professional performances; all available while residing in a tropical environment.

My best reason for loving JKV is that I can lock and leave and go traveling and all is taken care of for me, even for months on end.

From the extraordinary performances at our new Cultural Arts Center to the fitness facilities at the new aquatic center, private Pickleball courts and fully equipped fitness center, we’ve enjoyed all the JKV amenities that allow us to live the best of lives for the rest of our lives.

The greatest thing about moving to JVK is the community spirit that exists here. My neighbors have made me feel that I am part of a larger family. We all feel like we have always been friends.

1. My original fantasy about my decision to move to John Knox was driven by the grim fears of growing older without having a strong safety net for my aging maladies….BUT suddenly all of that got pushed aside, when I discovered a thriving community of beautiful homes, outdoor amenities, sports, theater arts, exquisite dining, fitness facilities and peer relations unlike anything that I’ve ever experienced…all on one campus. I wake up every morning with a calendar of events that will educate, entertain and enliven my day. It was indeed the right decision for me to move here.”
2. JKV has a warm and welcoming culture that projects, friendliness, mutual respect and caring that contagiously effects all residents. That same embrace is felt from our staff, management and leadership at all levels. When asked if I like living at JKV, my response is …”I wish I had done it sooner”. When asked if it is expensive? I respond, “The quality of life, immediacy of medical care, the amenities services are all worth the cost.”
3. Let me say it this way. I moved to JKV in June 2021. On my morning walks around this beautiful campus, I admire the variety of lush landscaping that frames the meandering villas and buildings nestled among the trees. I pass the east lake that is home to a variety of wildlife, mostly ducks, that squawk “Good Morning!” as I pass. JKV is a village, a hamlet, a neighborhood.. that cradles us gently as we write that last chapter of our lives. I could not have found a better place to write that final chapter. Spend one day on campus and you will know of what I speak.
