A large group of John Knox Village art lovers paid a visit to local contemporary creative venues during a recent tour of public art. First stop was the Pompano Beach Cultural Arts Center, which is also the central gathering for the “Pompanos” – artistic interpretations of the fish which gave its name to our fair city.
The group was met by Laura Atria, Public Art Program Manager for the City of Pompano Beach, who led the tour. We were introduced to three of the artists who each painted one of the more than a dozen fiberglass fabricated fish. Artists Beth Dubow, Missy Pierce and Carlos Inocente Gonzalez explained their design inspirations to the interested group.
